Luxurious Home with Hardwood FlooringNew year, new flooring—that’s our motto. The 2015 year has come and gone and left us with some beautiful home trends, but we’re even more excited for the trends in the new year.

Flooring Companies Predict the Top 3 2016 Flooring Trends

Many flooring companies, including our own, are anticipating what flooring trends we can expect to see in the New Year. New flooring technologies hit the market faster than you might think, and inspire us to help our customers create the most beautiful home. Here are just a few of flooring trends that our flooring experts are predicting to see in your home in 2016.

1. Bamboo Flooring

In 2016, not only do we see more beautiful homes, but also healthier homes. One of the biggest trends this year will be eco-friendly and sustainable flooring. Flooring products that keep both the home and the environment safe are becoming more of a natural choice for homebuyers and contractors.

One of the most eco-friendly flooring options on the market today is bamboo flooring. Unlike traditional hardwood flooring, bamboo flooring is crafted from bamboo trees, one of the most sustainable plants in the world. In the time it takes to grow one tree, over 10 bamboo stalks has grown.

Bamboo flooring is technically a form of grass, but has twice as hard properties as traditional wood flooring. The appearance of bamboo flooring closely mimics the same appearance as traditional wood floorings, but with a different composition. These are a major benefit to consumers looking to make a globally conscious flooring decision.

2. Reclaimed Hardwood

Another eco-friendly option that we can predict many homeowners in Lawndale will love is reclaimed wood flooring. Reclaimed wood flooring is re-using wood from barns, buildings, or other places where it is no longer being used. The wood is refinished and repurposed into homes to create a rustic home filled with charm.

Gone are the days of cookie-cutter homes. Homeowners are looking to create their home differently than any others. With reclaimed wood flooring, your home will get more than just eco-friendly flooring. It will have a unique story that can be told for decades.

Wood that was once used as beams in a barn in another state will now be the floor you walk on everyday. It’s things like this that make reclaimed hardwood a valuable flooring option for many homeowners.

3. Large Format Tile

For kitchens and bathrooms, we are seeing the use of large tile sizes, shapes, patterns, and more. Large format tiles are simply tile flooring in larger formats. This new trend offers the home a sleek look accompanied with less grout lines.

Common forms of large format tile are square tiles and thick rectangular tiles that mimic the appearance of how hardwood is laid. This type of tile requires a specific type of installation that may be hard to accomplish on your own. With the help of a local flooring company, you can bring this popular 2016 flooring trend in your home.

How Flooring Companies Can Help You Bring These Trends in Your Home

With new flooring trends comes new installation techniques, specifications, and procedures. To ensure that your flooring is not only installed properly, but on trend this year, be sure to shop through a reputable flooring company.

  1. I’m still not sure how I feel about bamboo flooring. I know that it is moe economical since bamboo grows so fast, but I worry that it wouldn’t be as strong as the traditional flooring options. I do love the idea of using reclaimed wood though. At least, it would be my first choice.
